Exceedingly Tedious Various Updates from Dustin, Abridged.

Hey all! Dustin here!

It's been a little since I posted, but that's cool. My Bar Mitzvah is all finished up now (it's David's turn next. I can't wait.)

Anyway, I scored an Epic Bundle Gift Card from David for my birthday. Thanks cousin! I've been putting a lot of energy into putting it together, and it's been going really well. I started Gardening as well, and it's going... okay. I'm really not a fan of having to check on the Garden everyday. I think KI really should look into fixing that. Sorry. Kestrel's T Word Theorem is just too prominent here.

What else, what else. Oh! Celestia! David and I recently faced one of the most deadly minions of Morganthe - yet another shark! I'm not sure about the name of the boss, but finishing up a certain instance level (aka dungeon if you're not an old timer) ended with our entry into the Sun Zone of Celestia. Updates coming soon on how that's been!

I'd also like to take a moment to commemorate Luke GoldHorn, a fantastic blogger who is leaving the Wizard community for at least a few years. Luke, you've earned this break, and come back or not, you've been a truly amazing friend to David and me. We both wish you luck in all your future endeavors. Even though we'll be talking to you on Skype now and then ;-)

All right, folks. That's my update... for now.

Signing off with a mighty "EEEPA, EEEPA,"

Early Questing in the Crustacean Empire

David and I got a little bit of questing done today in the Crustacean Empire. It's been really bothering him how all of the Crabs have speech impediments.
If the Crab's speech impediments are bothersome to you, kindly turn off the voice-overs feature and be done. I like the Crabs. There.
Today was the first time we ran into Thurston Plunkett, the fabled Marleybonian leader of the Celestian expediation.
The dude's pretty short. That's all I'm saying. (Sorry, Professor Balestrom! I had too!)

So that was cool. (Please leave your ridiculing comments on Plunkett's height in the comments section below, but don't tell Professor Balestrom!) ;-)
Soon after the quest where you meet Plunkett, there's a quest to collect sea mold. I put together a guide for you guys since the quest helper doesn't work for this.

Hope this helps anyone who's looking for mold for this quest!
I'll keep you guys posted on our questing... Until then...

Celestia, Gardening, lvl 56, and Treant Polymorphing!

Hey guys David here, with a few updates for the few people still looking at this blog. For those of you who havent been on the test realm yet, then GO! We got Farming :) What I discovered was that the growth bar when you inspect it was to show when it would grow into the NEXT stage, not when it was harvest able. Also Me and Dustin dinged 56! I didnt know I was going to be posting about this, so I don't have a screen shot.  Celestia, so far has been good to me, we are in the Portico, after easily gliding through the Storm Lords Palace! (or Temple?)Next is POLYMORPHING!!!!  I used my lvl 55 training point to learn Treant. It is an amazing polymorph, which gives some attacks and a lot of healing and shielding advantages! I would highly recommend you learn this polymorph at Stormriven from this dude! ULANTOR STARMIST! -Sry Everyone the Blogspot is not allowing me to upload screen captures of Stormriven.-

So yeah, no screen captures :(

Ill try to upload them into a different post afterward.

Keep on Casting!

Celestian Diaries, Number 2 (Rant Included!)

At least I'm not the only blogger who's found it hard to balance blogging and Wizard101 lately. It seems that Friendly is yet again realizing that "less talkee, more playee" is quite important.

However, it's been a few days since Celestia's launch, and David and I aren't even Level 51 yet! Yep, that's right. We're taking it extremely slow - not even out of the Grotto!

I would have pictures for all of you... But I've been so immersed in game play that it's just not happening. Sorry, Print Screen...

Well, not necessarily Print Screen. Folks, it's time I broke it to you. Something has been seriously frustrating me... Besides the fact that KingsIsle took out two very excellent Solar Spells because of PvP imbalance rather than just banning them in PvP.

All right, let's face it: the Mac destroys the PC any day. The Mac has better software, better hardware, and is downright better than a PC. I KNOW, I know, the PC is "a better gaming computer". I must say, though, that the PC is only a better gaming computer right now because the industry makes it so.

Let's take Wizard101 (a game) and Livestream (a great tool for gamers and online communities) for example, here.

Wizard101 is only compatible on the PC currently. Why is this? Only the people at KingsIsle will really know why Wizard101 only runs on PC's. Now, I've gotten Wizard101 to run on my Mac through fairly expensive software. Even then, the game doesn't run the way I want it to. It glitches often, and is not compatible with software like...

Livestream. An excellent tool for gamers who want to share their experience in games without the toil of creating a blog or a podcast. All you have to do is press "Go Live", and you're broadcasting your game to the world... On a PC. On Mac, however, there is no version of Procaster (Livestream software) that allows the user to specifically broadcast a game they play. I would, then, after having to go through all the trouble of using pretty annoying third party software, be disappointed because Livestream for Mac will not recognize games. This means desktop broadcasting, which is entirely different than game broadcasting, because it usually takes much less to power. If you try to broadcast a game with desktop broadcasting software, you will not be as successful as you might have been otherwise.

Here is my point: Why do people not make PC and Mac equal on software and hardware? Honestly. Why won't Livestream recognize games on Mac, and why won't KingsIsle pull out a Mac version of Wizard101?

Think about it from a business perspective: You have several million PC user's playing your game... There's several million Mac users out there who would love your game, too, KingsIsle! They'd buy subscriptions and Crowns and Mega Snack Packs and with those Crowns and so it all unfolds and comes back down to-

Money. It's what makes the world go 'round, folks.

And that's my rant of the day! Enjoy Celestia! (Coming to your Mac soon? Oh, I wish.)

Oh, right, and before I sign off, I might as well notify everyone that my Livestream channel is up and running: The Dustin MoonCatcher Network. I know, I've got a gigantic ego and have been renaming it a bunch of crap names every other minute, but it's here to stay now just a channel. David and I might be broadcasting some Celestia on it later tonight. Check it out (click here) and STAY TUNED!

Celestia Diaries, Number One

Celestia hit the Live Realm this morning! It's my blogging duty to document this incredible event... And so I will.

(If you're new to what's what in the Celestia Expansion, here's the update notes for you. Enjoy!)

Let's kick this off! As soon as the evil patcher finished updating Wizard101, I began!

So Diego gave me a hat, too. Yeah, even though it gives Critical bonus and great health, it's just not like the Grand Gear...

Then, it was off to Merle for THE QUEST.

Took you long enough, hasn't it, Ambrose? Well, anyway, I took his quest, and then made my way to Wizard City's Spiral Chamber.

It was wonderful to see Celestia on the roster. When the patching patcher was finally FINITE with patching, this amazing vista greeted me in Celestia.

It's awesome to finally be in Celestia LIVE!

Well, uh, that's all I've got today. I really wanna get some actual playing in... So see you guys under the sea!

I'll hopefully be back in a day or two with more pics and info!

Keep on Casting, THOSE MIGHTY MIGHTY ASTRAL SPELLS!

Celestia Is Here, And So Am I!

Hey, everyone! It's Dustin here, and I can't even express how awesome it is to be blogging again.

Allow me to recap - I've had to stop blogging weekly/daily because of my band, my upcoming Bar Mitzvah, and homework.

But hey, guys, look: Celestia is up on the Test Realm right now as I type this, which is just uber cool! You can read about what's up with all the new updates here (that's the Wizard101 Update Notes page).

Anyway, I'm back on Wizard101 Info because Celestia needs me to blog about it. No more questions asked. You'll  be seeing hopefully a bit more of me once Celestia actually comes on the Live Realm.

I'm going to make a real effort to keep this blog updated - so please keep checking back here, but I can't promise top-notch posts everyday.

Thank you very much to everyone who's stuck with me and David for so long. We can't wait to blog about our adventures in Celestia together.

Keep on Casting,
D. MoonCatcher

A Celestia Reveal on National Blogger's Day!

Hey folks! As Friendly would put it... This is just in from the newswire.

I can only guess at what a newswire is. shrug/

So today we have a sort of... Shakespearean-garb Marleybone (female, I think), holding a wrench. Next to her is a red gobbler pet... But since I got this picture off of the Friendly Necromancer, he might have added that :)

Also, be sure to come on out to the National Blogger's Day event! Just be in the Wizard City Commons-Vampire Area 1- between 5:30 pm and 10:00 pm Eastern. That's not to hard to translate, right? Just subtract... LOL.

See some of you all there!

Keep on Casting,

Stuff You Already Knew, But Maybe Didn't.

So, as you just have to know already, all of the Celestia pre-quests, Grizzleheim updates (crafting, housing), Dragonspyre updates (making it easier *wink*), "proc"ing updates (when using an innate card from a certain pet, the pet will proc and cast the card using a proc), etc., etc.

I've been enjoying all of this stuff so much, there's been no posting here on the wonderful Wizard 101 Info blog run by the Info Kids themselves!

Tonight I beat through all of the Celestia pre-quests expect the Warehouse. When it came around to that, I ran it with Leesha DarkHeart (or is it DarkHart?), Taji34 (Luke DragonTamer), and David. You all know who David it. Anyway, due to my general-stupidity-and-arrogance-in-the-final-boss-fight, David's-stupid-new-disfunctional-Celestian-sword-which-he-bought-with-Crowns-oh-curses, we died on the last floor of the tower! I really do hope Leesha doesn't hate me too much now, especially after I nagged her to get on Skype ;)

Leesha, you rock < flattery. Please accept my friend request on Diary of a Wizard ConnectX!

*ahem*

WandCast 7 Live went great! The only problem is that since I'm enjoying my vacation here at the beach, the show is going to take longer to edit than usual. I'm a little upset that we talked about the Test Realm news when the Live stuff came out the next day... Whatever. If you wanna listen to uncut Episode 7, click here and scroll through the chatroom video-on-demand archives until you find it.

I've got the sudden urge to explain to you all how to do that, but you're all smart and I've got a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder in my along with my rapid time syndrome ;), so it's all good.

The turnout for our after-party after the show. A ton of fun!

Jacob ThunderSword with his newly won Swiftshadow Wings.
Congratulations on winning the Swiftshadows', Jacob!

I hope to have WandCast 7 out by Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry! Try and bare with me, okay everyone :D?

See you all ITS tomorrow to do some more Celestia stuff... and maybe give the Warehouse another go!

Lastly, if David had an alter ego, his name would be Goliath MidgetRider.

Keep on Casting,

Celestia Pre-Quest Documentary, Part 1

It's here! I recorded it just about an hour ago. Click here to watch my hour long tour of the Test Realm! You can watch all of the soon to come live updates up until the Warehouse.

Enjoy! Remember, WandCast 7 is on Thursday July 8th, at 7 pm EDT. BE THERE!

Celestia Pre-Quests Arrives on the Test Realm Plus a Date for WandCast 7!

Well, I don't need to explain much about the whole Celestia pre-quests thing because KingsIsle does it pretty well right here; the update notes for the Test Realm release.

What I'm planning to do instead of taking a 100 screenshots is taking movies of my time in the Test Realm, right from the first time I log on. Sort of like a documentary. Anyway, I might get to lazy to make them... As my duty as a blogger, though, I think I'll get to it. I'm patching right now.

Ooh, I've got a single resolution for the pre-quests and Celestia itself. My resolution: Dustin, do not rush through the quests! Read thoroughly through each and every quest, and fully understand the storyline etc.

(It's important that I do this so I don't get a heart attack. It happens when I'm so excited ;))

Before I sign off of Blogger and sign IN to the Test Realm, I just need to tell all you guys the finally final date for WandCast 7! Please be in our chatroom on July 8, 2010 at 7 pm EDT. Need help with time zones? Here's a great site that'll help you out. It's going to be a great show! Remember to enter the Swiftshadow Wings Contest!
