Decisions?

As you can obviously tell, I've been posting less. This is due simply to the fact that my Real Life is taking over. And although it's making me very sad to think about it, there's going to be a lot of decisions I'm going to making pretty soon (as in the coming school year).

It's summer, and my whole Real Life is just taking off. I've been busy with a lot of band stuff. My band is really prominent in the area where I live, as is punk rock music (which we play). We played just last night at a huge venue that I'd LOVE to mention because if you know music, you'd know the venue. And then you'd think I'm cool. But I can't, because it would give away my top secret location. Anyway, it's really taking off for us (with a second CD in the process of being recorded and mixed), and we're pretty much getting shows left and right, and the demand for writing more and more songs is getting higher. On top of that, I've been semi-forced to set up a blog for the band/myself that has nothing to do with Wizard101, as well as a Twitter account. It's all for the goal of getting better connections in my area, which is very important.

So my band is taking up a huge amount of my time, and I'm happy! However, it's going to be more and more time consuming as the year progresses. But I'm worried that more things (like, oh, I dunno... SCHOOLWORK) is going to take up even more time. As you might know because I've blogged it before, I'm going to a private school next year. It's not that geeky of a school, actually, but the workload is going to be much more than I am used to. I'm going to need to really be on top of it... which brings me to decisions.

As I'm sure you all know, guys, I really don't want to quit this blog. And I don't want to quit WandCast either. But I think I'm going to have to pick one or do one more than the other.

Here is what I'm thinking right now: I think that I should semi-leave the blog, give it mostly to David, but have him let me post whenever I can without feeling completely obliged. I love WandCast just as much as Wizard 101 Info, and I think that I'm a vital part in making it the show that it is. I think it makes sense also to lean more heavily on WandCast because I'm a huge technical part of it. Anyway, whatever I decide to do, I can promise you that I'm still going to be an active community member whether it's blogging or podcasting, or a little bit of both.

Well? Let me know what you think of my idea to cut down on the blog a bit/ a lot and roll with the WandCast.

Thank you very much, guys.

Keep on Casting,
D. MoonCatcher

  1. Cool that your band has been soaring! Maybe you'll be doing cross-country tours before you know it. I basically do nothing over the summer except W101 and vacation, but I don't have a band. And yea, school *bleh*. Wandcast is awesome, so it'd be OK if you tuned down the blogging less. Good luck IRL :)

  3. Got to say, yours is one of the few blogs that i've put on my favorites menu. All of us would really miss you, but I think it's your call; it's not every day your band takes off. Congrats, bro.

  5. Thanks everyone. I think I'm going to stick with my original idea - turn blogging down a little bit and leave WandCast where it is.

  6. I'm facing the same decision's Dustin. This is my first year at my new school, and I'm having to take 7 dance classes (year round), field hockey (fall), volleyball (fall), basket ball (winter) and lacrosse (spring). And on top of all THAT, I'm going to do clubs, show choir, and the school play. (not forgetting school work!) So I'm going to be very busy, which means sometimes I might not make wandcast. If you want, I can tell you my class times, to help you figure out a schedule.

    Cya Later,

  7. I know how you feel, lot of IRL stuff just like me, I don't think you should not quit but just hold of on blogging and twittering, you famous so if you stop people will really miss you, and if you stop posting then what will happen to you blog? I helps me a lot with wizard 101 and a lot of new wizards will get a lot of help with your blog, anyway it is called Wizard 101 INFO! plus don't stop wandcast!! that is one of the best wizard 101 podcasts!! Wizard 101 Info is not Wizard 101 Info without wandcast!! you don't have to stop bloging, twitter and podcasting, just do it less often!

    Hope this helps!

  8. Its your own life, Dustin. You choose! but a LOT of people are put in your position, and I know you will be a great band no matter WHAT! its amazing to see how many bloggers and all their personalities! I am going to be an artist (well I am a artist) and I am selling artwork soon, even though I play W101. I combined both in a drawing/writing w101 story, I can guess its different for you. Anyways good luck Dustin, your band will be AMAZING!

  9. Dustin, I remember you telling me about the band but thats fantastic news. Congrats I hope everything works out really well :D And I know how you feel I am currently having the same problem and thinking the same thing. This is my last year in school so I have a lot of exams and revision to do to get into college (I am in private school also). And I am getting busy with irl stuff also as in friends and familys. I am thinking of leaving my blog. Either fail school and just keep doing the blog or Actually graduate and go to college. But I know how you feel.

  10. Okay I know this is a little to late (Or maybe a bit to much) but let's say it's the same day as you did that post:
Okay so I guess that on weekdays it's school work. On Saturday you should have your energy for your band and maybe Wandcast or if Wandcast can't be done that day, then maybe weekend homework if you have any. On Sunday you should play Wizard101 and do Wandcast if you hadn't done it the previous day. That could work
Sorry that this is a bit late but there you go, I think it might work oh and probably after school and after homework, you can practice for your band
    Just a thought!
