Some Wacky Observations and Experiences

It's the last day of my winter break, and I've been cramming in all the Wizard101 I can before school picks up and my game time is dramatically shortened. In fact, with my Bar Mitzvah less than two weeks away, a science project underway, and the second semester of school starting, I seriously doubt I'll be playing at all.

With that said, I'd like to share some interesting/funny observations and experiences (hence the title) with you guys.

So David, the lucky little romancer *s'cuse me* Pyromancer, is currently down in Florida chilling in the real Wizarding World. He pretty much forced me before he left to promise that I'd look after his garden for him, a promise I might need to break because of that school thing most of us do.

I haven't gardened much on Dustin yet, so I found this to be a really fun experience... So far. Here's a really neat spell I used...

Neat, right? Love the look of that...

Also, and call me weird, I saw this Pickle plant (I think it's called the Fickle Pickle), that weirdly resembles Paul McCartney. PLEASE tell me you guys know who Paul McCartney is.

Can anyone else see it? In the face? No? Leave a comment!

Oh, yeah, and what the HECK is THIS pet?

Where did that thing come from? It's freaking awesome! Please, leave a comment if you know...

Signing Off Until The New Year

After listening to a fabulous new episode of Ravenwood Radio (on which I didn't win a fancy Wizard101 Mantasy Falace), David and I are posting together tonight to conclude the year of 2010.

We've had an amazing year with everyone in the Wizard101 online community. We wish you all a new year full of despair, shame, reluctance, and pity (for the record, just kidding).

Thanks to one and all, especially Luke GoldHorn. And Friendly. And Steve.

Oh, don't get me started. There's just been so many people that have been helping me and David though Wizards.

I know you'll miss us these next few days as we sign off on blogging until the new year.

A huge congratulations to Ashley SeaBreeze, who won the contest on Ravenwood Radio. You are to be praised for snatching an MFP rightly-fully from my grasp ;-)

And now, a word from your loony pyromantic friend, Sir David "The Mango" TitanRider, notably famous for his relation to blogging legend Dustin "The Stapler" MoonCatcher.

~

(For the record, Dusty's the loony one.)
In a nutshell, or mango peel, pick however you wish to summarize it.

Nutshell-A great year, full of craziness, and magical prowess-60 WOOT!

Mango Peel- Slimy, kinda floppy, and a bit overrated :) lol
(Thats for you Friendly)
"Forget Grammar"-Dustin (as he stares at the screen as I type)-lol

Ok now for safety tips with David!

Mango's are floppy, and rather slimy if you step into a random room with Mango skin carpet.
SOOO Naturally you call the police about a wackjob with mango's on his carpet-xD

I wish you all a good ol happy new year, and (>^.^>  KIRBY!

(so off topic)

This is Dustin and David signing off!
FOREVER!!!

( NOT)  xD

We Become Even More Of Legends In Our Own Egos

I'm not going to go into details, because David just posted them.

We're Legendary. That's all I'm saying. Here's the video of our final moments collecting experience... (Until we get more Levels... If we get more Levels.)

The video here is pretty small - so you can click on it to go to YouTube where you can view it in full HD.

Thank you very much to everyone who has helped us along the way.

Celestia Diaries, Number One

Celestia hit the Live Realm this morning! It's my blogging duty to document this incredible event... And so I will.

(If you're new to what's what in the Celestia Expansion, here's the update notes for you. Enjoy!)

Let's kick this off! As soon as the evil patcher finished updating Wizard101, I began!

So Diego gave me a hat, too. Yeah, even though it gives Critical bonus and great health, it's just not like the Grand Gear...

Then, it was off to Merle for THE QUEST.

Took you long enough, hasn't it, Ambrose? Well, anyway, I took his quest, and then made my way to Wizard City's Spiral Chamber.

It was wonderful to see Celestia on the roster. When the patching patcher was finally FINITE with patching, this amazing vista greeted me in Celestia.

It's awesome to finally be in Celestia LIVE!

Well, uh, that's all I've got today. I really wanna get some actual playing in... So see you guys under the sea!

I'll hopefully be back in a day or two with more pics and info!

Keep on Casting, THOSE MIGHTY MIGHTY ASTRAL SPELLS!

Auras... Well, I Called It!

Hey there, Wizards! How's everyone doing? Hopefully good!

As Bailey (Friendly's uber wife) reminded me last night, I have the bragging rights on what the Astral School is all about! I'm sure plenty of people like myself won't remember, but I totally called Auras in Wizard101 Astral Magic. It was on a WandCast discussion, and I'm so shocked that I actually called something that I'm considering learning Stars. I did say how awesome that would be... It's a really nice school.

Oh yeah, and the big news! KingsIsle dropped the bomb on us this morning, to general intakes of breath and heart-attacks! Well, here you go, the big news!

Out great old pal Stormzilla is having his neck fixed when... Celestia goes live tomorrow.

Yup, folks so that's the awesome news! That's righto, no announcements about Celestia hitting the Live Realm tomorrow or anything like that!

Boy, I'm sure glad they're fixing Stormzilla. It was starting to really annoy me that we hadn't seen a fix in his neck yet.

See you guys tomorrow! TweetFeed is sure to be explosive when Stormzilla gets his neck fixed. 'Cause that's all the news there is.

And... Real Life Wins!

What with recording a CD with my band in Real Life, working on lyrics for the same band, practicing for a huge show we have coming up at a venue (which I unfortunately can't boast about on here because it would give away to much about my Real Life), and practicing for my upcoming Bar Mitzvah, I've found it a bit difficult to blog.

Anyway, it is summer, so I suppose it's a good thing that I haven't been glued to the computer too much.

I thought I'd let you all know that I simply haven't had time to blog these past few days, and until the end of the week, it's going to stay the same. Hopefully David will get some posts in while I'm busy IRL, right ol' pal?

I also thought that I would remind you all that WandCast 9 will be going LIVE on Thursday, August 5 2010 at 8:30 pm Eastern Time. The show is being held right in the Podcast WandCast chatroom, and we would be ever grateful and appreciative if you would kindly drop by our show if you've got time. I hasten to announce that we will be joined by none other than The Friendly Necromancer himself on this broadcast on WandCast! Friendly will be with us for, I hope, the entire show, giving his witty and wacky opinions and whatnot on Wizard101.

Well, everyone, this is Dustin signing off for most of the week! I'm expecting Celestia to be announced sometime this week *DING DING THEORYCRAFTIN'*, so if that happens, I'll most definitely be blogging for a bit about it.

Until then...

KingsIsle Announces Wizard101 "Personas" for Firefox

This just in (actually, it was announced on Thursday but nobody really posted about it)!

KingsIsle announced that they created specialized Wizard 101 "personas" (basically, themes) for the web browser Firefox! These are really super cool if you use Firefox and are a die hard Wizard 101 fan. Being a Mac, I'm a Safari fan, but I downloaded Firefox for Mac (I'm one of the only wizards I know that uses their Mac to play Wizard101) just to try out these themes.

That's the Storm School one. I tried the Storm School Spells one out, but I couldn't see me favorites.

If you use Firefox, these themes are a must. Click here to get the list of the ones released so far!

Stuff You Already Knew, But Maybe Didn't.

So, as you just have to know already, all of the Celestia pre-quests, Grizzleheim updates (crafting, housing), Dragonspyre updates (making it easier *wink*), "proc"ing updates (when using an innate card from a certain pet, the pet will proc and cast the card using a proc), etc., etc.

I've been enjoying all of this stuff so much, there's been no posting here on the wonderful Wizard 101 Info blog run by the Info Kids themselves!

Tonight I beat through all of the Celestia pre-quests expect the Warehouse. When it came around to that, I ran it with Leesha DarkHeart (or is it DarkHart?), Taji34 (Luke DragonTamer), and David. You all know who David it. Anyway, due to my general-stupidity-and-arrogance-in-the-final-boss-fight, David's-stupid-new-disfunctional-Celestian-sword-which-he-bought-with-Crowns-oh-curses, we died on the last floor of the tower! I really do hope Leesha doesn't hate me too much now, especially after I nagged her to get on Skype ;)

Leesha, you rock < flattery. Please accept my friend request on Diary of a Wizard ConnectX!

*ahem*

WandCast 7 Live went great! The only problem is that since I'm enjoying my vacation here at the beach, the show is going to take longer to edit than usual. I'm a little upset that we talked about the Test Realm news when the Live stuff came out the next day... Whatever. If you wanna listen to uncut Episode 7, click here and scroll through the chatroom video-on-demand archives until you find it.

I've got the sudden urge to explain to you all how to do that, but you're all smart and I've got a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder in my along with my rapid time syndrome ;), so it's all good.

The turnout for our after-party after the show. A ton of fun!

Jacob ThunderSword with his newly won Swiftshadow Wings.
Congratulations on winning the Swiftshadows', Jacob!

I hope to have WandCast 7 out by Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry! Try and bare with me, okay everyone :D?

See you all ITS tomorrow to do some more Celestia stuff... and maybe give the Warehouse another go!

Lastly, if David had an alter ego, his name would be Goliath MidgetRider.

Mac Users Across the Spiral, Rejoice!

Well, I can officially say to you all today that there's an easy and efficient way to get Wizard 101 on your Mac. It's hinted in the July edition of the Ravenwood Bulletin.

My goodness, I can't believe I was able to say that. Wizard 101 works on Mac, and I am proud!

*pinches self*

But wait, folks! Before you start loading up your Mac and download Wizard 101, I've gotta tell you something important.

Wizard 101 isn't officially supported on Mac. The only way to get Wizard 101 on your Mac is through an easy to use, not-to-expensive third party software called... CrossOver Games

All you've gotta do to get Wizard 101 on your Mac is download CrossOver Games. Once this is done, have the CrossOver Games application open on your computer and proceed to download the Wizard 101 game as you would normally do on a PC. CrossOver Games automatically converts the download to a Mac download, then converting the game to a Mac game. To access Wizard 101 once it has been downloaded, find the CrossOver Games folder in your Finder (usually under Applications, but try searching CrossOver Games in Spotlight if you can't find it). From here, you'll be able to access all the games you "CrossedOver" seamlessly to Mac OSX.

You know why I love screenshots? They can tell the truth... Unless you're Friendly, of course. (Note to Friendly: Link me in your post about how Wizard 101 can now run on a Mac! There is no post like this, you say? Make one, you silly Necromantic friendly Necromancer, MAKE ONE *winks*.) Two hours of Skeletal Warrior farming from Tumok ring a bell, David?

That, my friends, is the first time I ever saw Dustin on the screen of an Apple computer.

*wipes tear from eye*

Anyway, this is a fantastic third party feature that really does work seamlessly. I'm definitely going to make the most of my free trial with CrossOver Games and then invest in a copy of it for permanent use!

Hope this helps... I think it will... *wink wink*

Oh, and I hear Stephen, Leesha, and Icywiz beat the Warehouse with the help of the almighty and awesome Kevin BattleBlood, blogger, podcaster, and artist extraordinaré.

Celestia Pre-Quests Arrives on the Test Realm Plus a Date for WandCast 7!

Well, I don't need to explain much about the whole Celestia pre-quests thing because KingsIsle does it pretty well right here; the update notes for the Test Realm release.

What I'm planning to do instead of taking a 100 screenshots is taking movies of my time in the Test Realm, right from the first time I log on. Sort of like a documentary. Anyway, I might get to lazy to make them... As my duty as a blogger, though, I think I'll get to it. I'm patching right now.

Ooh, I've got a single resolution for the pre-quests and Celestia itself. My resolution: Dustin, do not rush through the quests! Read thoroughly through each and every quest, and fully understand the storyline etc.

(It's important that I do this so I don't get a heart attack. It happens when I'm so excited ;))

Before I sign off of Blogger and sign IN to the Test Realm, I just need to tell all you guys the finally final date for WandCast 7! Please be in our chatroom on July 8, 2010 at 7 pm EDT. Need help with time zones? Here's a great site that'll help you out. It's going to be a great show! Remember to enter the Swiftshadow Wings Contest!

Dates, David, and Dastardly Deeds

What guy doesn't love alliteration with D's? Just ask Milo Barker.

Anyway, my apologies for not posting much (who'm I kiddin') at all the past few days.

But hey. Want more could you fiesty readers want? What's that? The pretty much possible date for Episode 7 of the wonderful Wizard 101 podcast, WandCast? You've come to the right blogger! I'm sure that Friendly might have been able to give you this info, but only AFTER I've posted it. (Hint for Friendly: Once we finalize this date, please let the rest of the community know about it by posting about it, my Necromantic friend.) Friendly and I are good like that, so I can "hint" to him I'd like a post, and then you see it on TFN ;) Actually, I'm really the one who's written The Friendly Necromancer all along ;) Muahaha! And it's not like I'm plotting to take him down with Autumn D., or anything along those lines.

I'm a bit to stupid to be a conspirator, according to Senor Davido. shrug/

After much frustration, we've maybe even got a MAYBE date for the supposed-to-be-yesterday-(KESTREL) WandCast 7. The MAYBE (but smart-to-mark-down-in-your-calender) date for the supposed-to-be-yesterday-(KESTREL) WandCast 7 IS...

July 8th at 7 pm EDT! Voila! I know, a little late on (and when we were supposed to have WandCast 8 [KESTREL]), but it'll do, me thinks. Plus, it'll get us back on the Thursdays thing we were supposed to have down pat by now. You just HAD to get banned, huh good, dear Ketzel? Nah, it's no big deal. We here at Wizard 101 Info are very intellectually advanced children, you know. Kestrel, you're one cool Theurgist

Oh, I almost forgot how I completely enraged David the other night!

*sigh* I actually feel really bad about this one, even though there's nothing really to feel bad about because IT WASN'T MY FAULT, OKAY?!?

So I was farming the Skeletal Pirate pet from Viktor "Vikie" SnowCrusher on David and Dustin at the same time. I was basically just farming the dang thing for David's character because the Ianthine Spector place was full on pretty much every Realm I checked. I only ported Dustin into the fight at the last minute (the fight with Vikie), so I didn't really expect me to get any good drops.

And so, as luck of the stormish would have it, I got the Skeletal Pirate after not laying a trident on Viktor and after only being in the duel for about three minutes.

Anyway, sorry David, ol' chap. I'll work on that farming later tonight. Maybe I'll even get a spot with the Spector... That's a hard gig to get.

A Huge Breakthrough for Diviners Across the Spiral

As a Diviner, I've constantly been faced with a problem. Accuracy. It's easily the biggest problem Diviners face. Not low health. Low health is a problem, but not like accuracy.

The reason I post this is because I feel that I have made a really incredible breakthrough for everyone in the School of Storm. I've brought even some more honor to the School of Storm.

What if, ladies and gentlemen, I told you that I have 89% accuracy on all of my Storm attacks? With not a single treasure card?

Well, I do. That's 1 accuracy down from all Life attacks. I've had an extra 15% for a while now, but I got the extra 4% for Louie getting to Ancient.

They call me King Boom for a reason, you know.

A Fancy Rant of Fanciness

I must admit to have fallen into the wonderful world of "Less Talkee, More Playee" and did the Friendly Necromancer. It's really nice to take short breaks from posting about Wizard 101, where you can actually play the game you claim you are an expert at.

Not like I'm not an expert. I am ;)

So, what is good ol' Dustin going to talk about today? Well I'm first going to remind you that WandCast Episode 7 will be recorded live on June 24th, in the year 2010! If you want the word on when to be at the WandCast chatroom, be 110% sure to check out this post that I graciously posted upon the request that I post it from a Miss Kestrel "The Walrus" ShadowThistle. Speaking of Kestrel, she still hasn't sent me the dang show notes for Episode 7! I'm such a nagger. Sorry for being a nagger! Just send 'em along when you're ready "Ketzel" (-David's brother trying to say her name xD).

For those of you who don't know but should know, we're setting biweekly dates for WandCast over the summer! Thoroughly read this post, where we go through the information on Summer Standardization.

And LASTLY (about WANDCAST, that is), remember to enter the Swiftshadow Wings Contest we're having on the show! All you've got to do is send us a measly lil' email that contains the answer to this 'ere question: What is your favorite spell from the Death School, and why is your favorite spell from the Death School your favorite spell from the Death School?!? Easy as cheesecake (that's for you, Heather R.)! We're having one winner, who will win the new Swiftshadow Wings that ANYONE who's ANYONE wants. So you WANT to enter this contest. LET'S WIN SOME WINGS FROM WANDCAST!

I know, I said lastly. But there's just ONE more thing I just HAVE to say before the rant! I now have a title! During the recording of Ravenwood Radio Episode 18, I asked Leesha if all student teachers got the title Overlord. According to Leesha, they each get a separate title. Leesha, you know your stuff, so I'm trusting you on this one! Thanks to Sierra StarSong for helping me figure out what my title was going to be. We settled on "King Boom"! I know, it's raw, and it's awesome. So now I'm King Boom MoonCatcher, and I'm loving life!

Right, onto the rant. The rant that I promised you all. And it's pretty fancy, as promised.

*cue rant*

I'm going to explain to you how farming works with my cousin, David TitanRider.

Say you set out to farm the Crazed Forest Spirit in the Ancient Burial Grounds for the Crabling, and David tags along. You fight a few times, and then you (you meaning ME, Dustin MoonCatcher), rolls a 100.

You get the Crabling.

And then David has something to say. "Look, man, you owe me. You owe me that Crabling. You are in a DEBT to me, dude. You will farm all day and night until a Crabling sits proudly in my backpack, or I will stick this pencil in your head!" (See WandCast 6 for the pencil thing, because it's real.)

So I'm now in a debt to David. I didn't even say anything except that I'd get him that Spector, and yet I am in debt because I got the drop we were farming for. Interesting phenomenon, no?

Ah David, you know I'm just messing you, but that's what farming with you is like. Erm... Farming with ME probably isn't that different, butcha know.

*awkward silence*
*everyone stares at Dustin, who begins to sweat*

Money doesn't grow on trees, OKAY?! GAH! I'M CAUGHT! shrug/

SORRY, that was pretty spontaneous. But that's what the art of the rant is like, cuz! SPONTANEOUS.

Get used to it ;) I'm going to sign off with some pictures that'll probably annoy David ;) He's a cool guy- Wait, no- he's a firey guy, and a good cousin. Thanks for all the farming we've done together, cuz.

I've got a Crabling!

Rusty's first day of pre-school. I hope he fits in!

Michael RainHeart's latest outfit.

It's really sad when you see that quest in the booklet of a Level 36 Wizard. Michael RainHeart was conveniently unavailable for comment when this was discovered. Reporters assume that he is now lazy as well as cocky and overconfident.

A Therapeutic Solution, I Guess...

Some good thinking on David and my part lead to the creation of this little fellow.

(Click on him to enlarge.) Yup, that's 100% correct! Dustin TitanRider. An Apprentice Pyromancer, ready to take on all of the challenges the Spiral has to throw at him. Of course, I didn't create this guy without having David do something along the same lines... Let's just say you'll probably see a post come along later today that has a dashing male wizard, David MoonCatcher, in it.

It might seem like we created our polar opposites for fun, but that's just one aspect of it. David and I constantly bicker about which school is better; Fire or Storm. (Kestrel is usually the peace-maker if we're on WandCast.) Today, David and I decided to actually create Storm and Fire alts so we can literally live in each other's shoes. Isn't it smart? We are really convinced that this is going to help us gain respect for each other's schools, and might even ease the bickering! Plus, it's fun to play a noob.

David'll post later about this in his way, so I'll sign off now.

Keep on Casting,
D. MoonCatcher

Jaw-Dropping and Incredible Stuff!

Dustin here. And I'm really excited to post, for once! Italy tied with Paraguay (1:1) in the World Cup today. Come on, Italians, couldn't you have just push it a little further? I'm part Italian, so if they could've dominated, it would have made me really happy. Alas, no.

Just kidding. It's always a blast to post stuff for you folks. Who likes the new header that I so cleverly created? Personally, I think it is just awesome. I encourage you to leave comments restating how awesome it is so that I can bask in glory.

Louie, my Damp Demon buddy, unlocked a really nice ability when I leveled him to Adult today. I was all like, "Louie, you're actually going to be useful?!?" It's so nice when they grow up... and yet so sad. The uber ability is...

Blade Furry Flurry (Thanks Samantha)! (click to enlarge)

This goes to my sideboard in my deck. It's great, although it doesn't stack onto my Storm Blade and Elemental Blade for some reason. Friendly, should it stack? I don't thin we've seen an Amulet or Athame that gives a card before. We want answers, or we'll mob you, Friendly! Just kidding. But answers would be nice!

After I was done fiddling around with Louie, David and I decided to mess around and see how much it would cost for some different pet combos that we have. Here's the results. I must say, you're gonna go "NO FREAKING WAY!" when you see how much gold this could cost. (The total price is in the far bottom left-hand corner). Also in parenthesis ;-), (click to enlarge).

That's not even a funny amount of gold to spend. Not even funny. I'm going to have to call of my deal with Heather Raven, me thinks. Tip: For everyone who is considering hatching, look at those prices. Say you hatch. Say you've then got zip gold left. Zip gold isn't gonna buy you the awesome new gear that's a comin' in Celestia. Keep that in mind.

By the way, I'm still working on WandCast Episode 6's editing. It's going to take me a bit, but it is an excellent show, so PLEASE don't get discouraged with WandCast. It's going to be great. There's just one thing I need to tell you about it though. The next WandCast is going to be most likely a week after the 17th. After the show a week after the 17th, we'll get into the rhythm of doing shows every other Thursday. Stay tuned for more info, and thanks for sticking with us in these tough economic times :P

Keep on Casting,
