Sorry, I'm a Bit Late. But a Contest Has Been Announced!

Yeah, er, I know. There's bit really no action here on Wizard101 Info the past week... or two. I'm sorry. It's summer, and the Real Life is blossoming, so I've figured that it's probably best to just... You know. Enjoy the weather rather than sit around and blog/play video games.

Anyway, I'm here to announce that a contest was announced on WandCast 9 which I haven't released yet. Due to the fact that it might not be out for listening until the end of this week, I think it makes sense to tell everyone who didn't hear the live show what we were saying the broadcast.

Okay, so here's the contest:

To enter our contest, you have to email us with a poem about the ghosts of Wizard101. Make sure that your poem has a pretty obvious theme that you execute well (i.e. funny, sad, death, etc.) We will be reading all of your poems and picking the one that we think does the best with it's theme/mood. Make sure you use descriptive words and that your poem is good! LOL! Send your entries to wizard101stuff@gmail.com. Winners will be announced on WandCast 10, which will be recording live on August 19 at 8:30 pm Eastern in our chatroom. The prize is a Pale Maiden pet that can *manifest Feint*.

Alright, guys, see you in the Spiral!

Keep on Casting,

Contest On WandCast 7!

Since WandCast 7 isn't going to be released (recorded/edited version) until maybe Wednesday or Thursday, I think it's right to announce the contest that's announced on there on HERE in case you didn't listen to the live recording last Thursday... so that everyone has enough time to get it done!

So here's the info on the contest!

To enter our contest, you have to send in a doodle/drawing (using your computer, crayons, canvas, etc.) of Kestrel, David, or Dustin (please say which Wizard) and email it to wizard101stuff@gmail.com. Then you're in! We're going to pick the doodle that we like most, so make sure that your doodle is aesthetically pleasing (that means good to look at), has originality, style, skill, humor/realistic, etc. We will only choose 1 winner. Choose who you're going to draw carefully! It can be a cartoon or a realistic drawing, ANYTHING, as long as you think we'll like it!

Well, you could send something you don't think we'll like, but... I digress.

What can you win, EH? Well, you'll be able to choose between the Ascendant StaffPhosphorescent Maul, the Celestian Trident, the Celestian Sword *NEW*,  or the Cerulean Edge! If you'd like to see what all of these wands stats are, check them out in the Crowns Shop in the upper left hand corner of your screen.

The winners will be announced on WandCast 8, which will be recording live in our chatroom  on July 22 (a Thursday), 2010, at 8:30 pm EDT.

We hope to see a lot of entries!

Keep on Casting,
D. MoonCatcher

P.S. If you don't know how to scan drawings into your computer through your printer, you could ask a parent how. If that is also unhelpful, take a picture of your drawing and upload that to your computer.

Stuff You Already Knew, But Maybe Didn't.

So, as you just have to know already, all of the Celestia pre-quests, Grizzleheim updates (crafting, housing), Dragonspyre updates (making it easier *wink*), "proc"ing updates (when using an innate card from a certain pet, the pet will proc and cast the card using a proc), etc., etc.

I've been enjoying all of this stuff so much, there's been no posting here on the wonderful Wizard 101 Info blog run by the Info Kids themselves!

Tonight I beat through all of the Celestia pre-quests expect the Warehouse. When it came around to that, I ran it with Leesha DarkHeart (or is it DarkHart?), Taji34 (Luke DragonTamer), and David. You all know who David it. Anyway, due to my general-stupidity-and-arrogance-in-the-final-boss-fight, David's-stupid-new-disfunctional-Celestian-sword-which-he-bought-with-Crowns-oh-curses, we died on the last floor of the tower! I really do hope Leesha doesn't hate me too much now, especially after I nagged her to get on Skype ;)

Leesha, you rock < flattery. Please accept my friend request on Diary of a Wizard ConnectX!

*ahem*

WandCast 7 Live went great! The only problem is that since I'm enjoying my vacation here at the beach, the show is going to take longer to edit than usual. I'm a little upset that we talked about the Test Realm news when the Live stuff came out the next day... Whatever. If you wanna listen to uncut Episode 7, click here and scroll through the chatroom video-on-demand archives until you find it.

I've got the sudden urge to explain to you all how to do that, but you're all smart and I've got a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder in my along with my rapid time syndrome ;), so it's all good.

The turnout for our after-party after the show. A ton of fun!

Jacob ThunderSword with his newly won Swiftshadow Wings.
Congratulations on winning the Swiftshadows', Jacob!

I hope to have WandCast 7 out by Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry! Try and bare with me, okay everyone :D?

See you all ITS tomorrow to do some more Celestia stuff... and maybe give the Warehouse another go!

Lastly, if David had an alter ego, his name would be Goliath MidgetRider.

Keep on Casting,

A Fancy Rant of Fanciness

I must admit to have fallen into the wonderful world of "Less Talkee, More Playee" and did the Friendly Necromancer. It's really nice to take short breaks from posting about Wizard 101, where you can actually play the game you claim you are an expert at.

Not like I'm not an expert. I am ;)

So, what is good ol' Dustin going to talk about today? Well I'm first going to remind you that WandCast Episode 7 will be recorded live on June 24th, in the year 2010! If you want the word on when to be at the WandCast chatroom, be 110% sure to check out this post that I graciously posted upon the request that I post it from a Miss Kestrel "The Walrus" ShadowThistle. Speaking of Kestrel, she still hasn't sent me the dang show notes for Episode 7! I'm such a nagger. Sorry for being a nagger! Just send 'em along when you're ready "Ketzel" (-David's brother trying to say her name xD).

For those of you who don't know but should know, we're setting biweekly dates for WandCast over the summer! Thoroughly read this post, where we go through the information on Summer Standardization.

And LASTLY (about WANDCAST, that is), remember to enter the Swiftshadow Wings Contest we're having on the show! All you've got to do is send us a measly lil' email that contains the answer to this 'ere question: What is your favorite spell from the Death School, and why is your favorite spell from the Death School your favorite spell from the Death School?!? Easy as cheesecake (that's for you, Heather R.)! We're having one winner, who will win the new Swiftshadow Wings that ANYONE who's ANYONE wants. So you WANT to enter this contest. LET'S WIN SOME WINGS FROM WANDCAST!

I know, I said lastly. But there's just ONE more thing I just HAVE to say before the rant! I now have a title! During the recording of Ravenwood Radio Episode 18, I asked Leesha if all student teachers got the title Overlord. According to Leesha, they each get a separate title. Leesha, you know your stuff, so I'm trusting you on this one! Thanks to Sierra StarSong for helping me figure out what my title was going to be. We settled on "King Boom"! I know, it's raw, and it's awesome. So now I'm King Boom MoonCatcher, and I'm loving life!

Right, onto the rant. The rant that I promised you all. And it's pretty fancy, as promised.

*cue rant*

I'm going to explain to you how farming works with my cousin, David TitanRider.

Say you set out to farm the Crazed Forest Spirit in the Ancient Burial Grounds for the Crabling, and David tags along. You fight a few times, and then you (you meaning ME, Dustin MoonCatcher), rolls a 100.

You get the Crabling.

And then David has something to say. "Look, man, you owe me. You owe me that Crabling. You are in a DEBT to me, dude. You will farm all day and night until a Crabling sits proudly in my backpack, or I will stick this pencil in your head!" (See WandCast 6 for the pencil thing, because it's real.)

So I'm now in a debt to David. I didn't even say anything except that I'd get him that Spector, and yet I am in debt because I got the drop we were farming for. Interesting phenomenon, no?

Ah David, you know I'm just messing you, but that's what farming with you is like. Erm... Farming with ME probably isn't that different, butcha know.

*awkward silence*
*everyone stares at Dustin, who begins to sweat*

Money doesn't grow on trees, OKAY?! GAH! I'M CAUGHT! shrug/

SORRY, that was pretty spontaneous. But that's what the art of the rant is like, cuz! SPONTANEOUS.

Get used to it ;) I'm going to sign off with some pictures that'll probably annoy David ;) He's a cool guy- Wait, no- he's a firey guy, and a good cousin. Thanks for all the farming we've done together, cuz.

I've got a Crabling!

Rusty's first day of pre-school. I hope he fits in!

Michael RainHeart's latest outfit.

It's really sad when you see that quest in the booklet of a Level 36 Wizard. Michael RainHeart was conveniently unavailable for comment when this was discovered. Reporters assume that he is now lazy as well as cocky and overconfident.

Changes?

No, not David Bowie. It's a good song, but that's not what I'm talking about.

It seems like nobody is entering our WandCast contests. It just kind of bugs me. Of course, I can see how some of the contests we've done might be hard for some to do, but you know... It would be a lot to Kestrel, David, and I if we had... a bit more people signing up for our contests.

The latest one - the Green Cat Thug Contest - is definitely a bit challening, and I'm strongly considering discussing it with my fellow WandCasters so that younger listeners or people who just don't have the time to sit down and browse around songs about cats can be fully involved.

Any opinions on WandCast contests are fully accepted and taken seriously, so let us know what you think!

Contest Re-Announcement!

I screwed up again!

*streamers fly & people cheer*

Now now, settle down. It wasn't that bad of a screw up. All I did was tell everybody that there was nothing special on WandCast Episode 5 which holds no point in listening to besides this:
There was a contest announced on WandCast Episode 5! And this post is the post that is going to get the contest across the wire to everyone who didn't (and most likely won't) listen to Episode 5.
Phew. That was SOME yelling. So what is this contest we are re-announcing here, you may ask? David came up with the idea. I admit, it was pretty smart. Not like he is actually SMARTER than I... let's not get in to all this nitty-gritty. Anyway, here is what this contest is all about:

What do I have to do? Has anyone really taken their time and listened to the music of Wizard 101? It's really quite something. Amazing. KingsIsle really scored with getting it. Whatever. To win something pretty cool (see below for prize) you've got to send us a song (just the title and band name is fine) that in your own personal way connects to the Green Cat Thug Pet that was announced with the Pet Update on the Test Realm. Doesn't sound that hard, does it? There's just a few requirements: The song must be under 3 minutes in length, and it must be appropriate. If you're looking in iTunes and you see EXPLICIT next to a song in the iTunes store, let me tell you RIGHT NOW that this is NOT the song for WandCast. Capiche? Also, include in the email the connection from song to pet that you were able to see.
How do I let the WandCast crew know that I am entering? An email will do. Just send a message to wizard101stuff@gmail.com. In the message, please include the title of the song, the band/artist who wrote it, and where you found a FULL recording of the song. Good places to search are iTunes, YouTube (music videos are fine but need to be appropriate and please identify search terms specifically), Pandora, etc., etc.
What will I win? Isn't it rather obvious? You will win a Green Cat Thug Pet as soon as the Pet Update goes live. And all you've got to do is submit a song to us (see above)! A rather sweet deal. Plus, the song you pick will be featured on WandCast for everyone to enjoy.
How will the winner be chosen? The winner will be chosen by the song we think best represents the best connection. Basically, if you say that the Green Cat Thug connects to this song because ____________, then we expect to see and understand this connection. The one that we think is the best, wins!

So who's up for the challenge? You? Just send us an email as soon as you can. Remember, if only 2 people enter, you've got a 50% chance of winning. Here's 2 screenshots of the pet so you know how cool he is:

Enter, everyone, ENTER! Winners will be announced on Episode 6 or 7 (you'll have plenty of notice).

Keep on Casting,
D. MoonCatcher

Ravenwood Radio 14 & What I've Been Up To

How's it going, everyone? I'm listening currently to Ravenwood Radio 14 as I post this, so I think I'm gonna have fun and critique it a bit. But first, I know, you guys really wanna hear what I've got to say about Ravenwood Radio, I wanna just let everyone know what I've been up to lately...

Okay, oops! I've got ONE more thing to go before my little update and my critiquing Ravenwood Radio. David's poster pictures! I know, this one has taken a WHILE for us to get cracking on... Here's the pics; I took them myself, and I think they're pretty nice...

I think that they might go off the page here on this post, but I hope that the large size will work okay when you put them into a photo editor or whatever that it'll look okay. If the pictures don't have very good resolution, or you'd just like a "fresh" copy, email me at wizard101stuff@gmail.com and I'll send one right away for you.

Onto what I've been doing lately! Interesting, isn't it?
Today, I went Ruffian killing on Michael RainHeart. I must say, ever since playing a Life Wizard, I've realized it's very good that I've played Storm before Life. The kill-ability of Storm makes playing a Life Wizard even MORE of a breeze in these solo mob fights. People who are saying that Life has got low damage- what the heckhound? It isn't hard to get high damage on a Theurgist. You've got so much health that you can blade away while the mobs hack at your health. Then, when you feel like it, you kill.
Fun, right? Here's some "screenies" (quote Autumn DuskHunter):

I thought that this shot was pretty funny. Michael is soooo pompous, you know (like the new hat?). As soon as he captures his last Rat (Lord Penny :)), he decides to humiliate the rates of Marleybone further by standing around them and waving his new badge in their face.

Woot! Mooooore rat-killing! Now onto Dustin... I've been questing in Grizzleheim a bit... Well, I was until disappointment just got to big. Here's my quest-

*sigh* However, those pesky little "Collect" quests make me crazy, and when I failed on my 1st try to collect and, I kind of just wandered away, wallowing in self-pity.

Just look at that ridiculous Quest Helper down there, tormenting me with the fact that I haven't collected any of the Feathers yet... Speaking of annoying, let's look at the main quest-giver in Grizzleheim-

It's crazy, as I soon as I finish one quest in there, Hrafn goes ahead and gives me another one. And what does he do for the hours when I'm not online? EH? It's not like he hasn't got times on his hands... Annnnyway, I found a pretty cool place for Ice Wizards to take pictures for their Student Elections Poster, or just a profile picture or something. Here, check it out-

It's in an ice tunnel in Ravenscar. Here is the location on the Map-

Does everyone see the little green arrow on the Map? Cool.

Now time for Critic MoonCatcher to give a little chat.
Overall, great Ravenwood Radio episode, Stephen & Leesha. Really great.
I love the new segment called Study Hall, what a funny name... Giving a specialized segment for every School on every episode is an excellent idea, which SpiralCast has also been doing. Great podcast! However, regarding that segment, I think that it is a little bit... unfair... that people who aren't adults-

*ahem*

-can't be on the segment. Many of the great bloggers in the Wizard 101 Community are not adults. I'm not an adult, and I would love to be in Study Hall. I think that me all deserve an explanatory reason for why kids can't be on the show if they podcast themselves. Are you guys worried about parental controls or things like that? Also, why did Steve not even mention WandCast at all? He was there at the live show, you know? And we mention Ravenwood Radio all the time on WandCast... Whatever. Sorry to wine to all of you ;-)

Anyway, Happy Earth Day!

Keep on Casting,
Dustin
