Kingsisle Open Chat Change. (****PATCHED****)

Ok, for those of you who have realized this, KI has put a restriction of Open Chat to only people who have put in a credit card (aka adults). This was the message from Lydia GrayRose.

Accounts that are NOT currently subscribed with a credit card will no longer have 18+ open chat. Those accounts will revert to Text Chat. Open Chat is a feature for accounts currently subscribed with a valid Credit Card.

We try to offer a full range of player account options (ie. Credit Cards, PayPal, Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, subscriptions, access passes, free trial, etc). Each of these comes with its own set of benefits and limitations.

For instance, as a crowns player, you have lifetime access to areas purchased. As a credit card subscriber, you’re given the option to enable 18+ chat (if you’re 18+ in age of course).

The fact that some accounts were able to retain their 18+ chat ability even when they were no longer subscribed, was a bug. In an effort to keep the player options equitable for all, we fixed the bug.

We thank you for your understanding. Please note, your ability to chat is not gone, your account will retain the filtered chat option.

This is a pretty sad excuse to get people to be polite on Wizard101. It not only effects those who are following chat rules-(Who are now quitting, or planning on it). It is also affecting people who play with crowns. THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO DISRUPT Wizard101. THEY CAN JUST AS EASILY PUT IN A CREDIT CARD AND RESUME WHAT THEY WERE DOING BEFORE. Kingsisle should change this immediately, for the sake of the community. I know this post is a little one sided, who I suppose I should focus on benefits.
Since the bad things were all posted above.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good: It helps to limit people who use vulgar language.
It also requires people to have a credit card to "ensure" adultery behavior.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I cant think of other reasons, but I once again think of this: THIS IS A TEMPORARY FIX FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO DISRUPT Wizard101. THEY CAN JUST AS EASILY PUT IN A CREDIT CARD AND RESUME WHAT THEY WERE DOING BEFORE.  Honestly what percentage of people who do say vulgar words actually have they're parents know about this!!!!!!!!   KI didnt think very well about this problem, and should reconsider a better course of action.

Thanks for listening to my onesided Rant.

Thanks all- ( and yes it still says Posted By Dustin MoonCatcher- which is annoying)

Celestian Diaries, Number 2 (Rant Included!)

At least I'm not the only blogger who's found it hard to balance blogging and Wizard101 lately. It seems that Friendly is yet again realizing that "less talkee, more playee" is quite important.

However, it's been a few days since Celestia's launch, and David and I aren't even Level 51 yet! Yep, that's right. We're taking it extremely slow - not even out of the Grotto!

I would have pictures for all of you... But I've been so immersed in game play that it's just not happening. Sorry, Print Screen...

Well, not necessarily Print Screen. Folks, it's time I broke it to you. Something has been seriously frustrating me... Besides the fact that KingsIsle took out two very excellent Solar Spells because of PvP imbalance rather than just banning them in PvP.

All right, let's face it: the Mac destroys the PC any day. The Mac has better software, better hardware, and is downright better than a PC. I KNOW, I know, the PC is "a better gaming computer". I must say, though, that the PC is only a better gaming computer right now because the industry makes it so.

Let's take Wizard101 (a game) and Livestream (a great tool for gamers and online communities) for example, here.

Wizard101 is only compatible on the PC currently. Why is this? Only the people at KingsIsle will really know why Wizard101 only runs on PC's. Now, I've gotten Wizard101 to run on my Mac through fairly expensive software. Even then, the game doesn't run the way I want it to. It glitches often, and is not compatible with software like...

Livestream. An excellent tool for gamers who want to share their experience in games without the toil of creating a blog or a podcast. All you have to do is press "Go Live", and you're broadcasting your game to the world... On a PC. On Mac, however, there is no version of Procaster (Livestream software) that allows the user to specifically broadcast a game they play. I would, then, after having to go through all the trouble of using pretty annoying third party software, be disappointed because Livestream for Mac will not recognize games. This means desktop broadcasting, which is entirely different than game broadcasting, because it usually takes much less to power. If you try to broadcast a game with desktop broadcasting software, you will not be as successful as you might have been otherwise.

Here is my point: Why do people not make PC and Mac equal on software and hardware? Honestly. Why won't Livestream recognize games on Mac, and why won't KingsIsle pull out a Mac version of Wizard101?

Think about it from a business perspective: You have several million PC user's playing your game... There's several million Mac users out there who would love your game, too, KingsIsle! They'd buy subscriptions and Crowns and Mega Snack Packs and with those Crowns and so it all unfolds and comes back down to-

Money. It's what makes the world go 'round, folks.

And that's my rant of the day! Enjoy Celestia! (Coming to your Mac soon? Oh, I wish.)

Oh, right, and before I sign off, I might as well notify everyone that my Livestream channel is up and running: The Dustin MoonCatcher Network. I know, I've got a gigantic ego and have been renaming it a bunch of crap names every other minute, but it's here to stay now just a channel. David and I might be broadcasting some Celestia on it later tonight. Check it out (click here) and STAY TUNED!

The Struggle between the 2(and more) worlds.....

David here, while I am here typing loudly and fastly on this laptop, i am forcefully compelled to write about recent events in W101. Today, I got cursed at. /shrug  oh well, it tends to happen, so us wizards have to leave with they're heads held high, and buzzing clouds of hate forming ideas in your brain. Also(totally different subject) I FINALLY got to Disc 2 on Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope!  Its pretty fun and addictive, just google it, and get a game idea. (NTF(Note to Friendly: How far have you gotten through FF13?)) Anyways, the world of wizard101 is a fun, but dangerous place full of scams, traps, and inappropriate content for children before the age of 9/10. I am at the beach condo and am forced to take my break of the Xbox360 for a while :-( but I can wait. I hope dearly that I can get off of this planet Roak and onto EnII,  lol, I feel geeky now. Anyway.... life is goooooooood, and today i went fishing and caught a.......eel.  yep a EEL. It was slimy gross and all around AWESOME!!!!!!   :)   I gotta start practicing for multiple stuff, Bar Mitzvah among other things, and finishing up summer school work. :(  But I should stop ranting now, THATS Dustin's job jk  :D   :P  Its a good reassurance that i at least have good friends on wiz101  :-)  so thanks, and Congratz to Donna Spellthorn on crafting a Mannequin. I should be going so peace out everyone!!!!!!

Stuff You Already Knew, But Maybe Didn't.

So, as you just have to know already, all of the Celestia pre-quests, Grizzleheim updates (crafting, housing), Dragonspyre updates (making it easier *wink*), "proc"ing updates (when using an innate card from a certain pet, the pet will proc and cast the card using a proc), etc., etc.

I've been enjoying all of this stuff so much, there's been no posting here on the wonderful Wizard 101 Info blog run by the Info Kids themselves!

Tonight I beat through all of the Celestia pre-quests expect the Warehouse. When it came around to that, I ran it with Leesha DarkHeart (or is it DarkHart?), Taji34 (Luke DragonTamer), and David. You all know who David it. Anyway, due to my general-stupidity-and-arrogance-in-the-final-boss-fight, David's-stupid-new-disfunctional-Celestian-sword-which-he-bought-with-Crowns-oh-curses, we died on the last floor of the tower! I really do hope Leesha doesn't hate me too much now, especially after I nagged her to get on Skype ;)

Leesha, you rock < flattery. Please accept my friend request on Diary of a Wizard ConnectX!

*ahem*

WandCast 7 Live went great! The only problem is that since I'm enjoying my vacation here at the beach, the show is going to take longer to edit than usual. I'm a little upset that we talked about the Test Realm news when the Live stuff came out the next day... Whatever. If you wanna listen to uncut Episode 7, click here and scroll through the chatroom video-on-demand archives until you find it.

I've got the sudden urge to explain to you all how to do that, but you're all smart and I've got a little bit of obsessive compulsive disorder in my along with my rapid time syndrome ;), so it's all good.

The turnout for our after-party after the show. A ton of fun!

Jacob ThunderSword with his newly won Swiftshadow Wings.
Congratulations on winning the Swiftshadows', Jacob!

I hope to have WandCast 7 out by Wednesday or Thursday. Sorry! Try and bare with me, okay everyone :D?

See you all ITS tomorrow to do some more Celestia stuff... and maybe give the Warehouse another go!

Lastly, if David had an alter ego, his name would be Goliath MidgetRider.

Dates, David, and Dastardly Deeds

What guy doesn't love alliteration with D's? Just ask Milo Barker.

Anyway, my apologies for not posting much (who'm I kiddin') at all the past few days.

But hey. Want more could you fiesty readers want? What's that? The pretty much possible date for Episode 7 of the wonderful Wizard 101 podcast, WandCast? You've come to the right blogger! I'm sure that Friendly might have been able to give you this info, but only AFTER I've posted it. (Hint for Friendly: Once we finalize this date, please let the rest of the community know about it by posting about it, my Necromantic friend.) Friendly and I are good like that, so I can "hint" to him I'd like a post, and then you see it on TFN ;) Actually, I'm really the one who's written The Friendly Necromancer all along ;) Muahaha! And it's not like I'm plotting to take him down with Autumn D., or anything along those lines.

I'm a bit to stupid to be a conspirator, according to Senor Davido. shrug/

After much frustration, we've maybe even got a MAYBE date for the supposed-to-be-yesterday-(KESTREL) WandCast 7. The MAYBE (but smart-to-mark-down-in-your-calender) date for the supposed-to-be-yesterday-(KESTREL) WandCast 7 IS...

July 8th at 7 pm EDT! Voila! I know, a little late on (and when we were supposed to have WandCast 8 [KESTREL]), but it'll do, me thinks. Plus, it'll get us back on the Thursdays thing we were supposed to have down pat by now. You just HAD to get banned, huh good, dear Ketzel? Nah, it's no big deal. We here at Wizard 101 Info are very intellectually advanced children, you know. Kestrel, you're one cool Theurgist

Oh, I almost forgot how I completely enraged David the other night!

*sigh* I actually feel really bad about this one, even though there's nothing really to feel bad about because IT WASN'T MY FAULT, OKAY?!?

So I was farming the Skeletal Pirate pet from Viktor "Vikie" SnowCrusher on David and Dustin at the same time. I was basically just farming the dang thing for David's character because the Ianthine Spector place was full on pretty much every Realm I checked. I only ported Dustin into the fight at the last minute (the fight with Vikie), so I didn't really expect me to get any good drops.

And so, as luck of the stormish would have it, I got the Skeletal Pirate after not laying a trident on Viktor and after only being in the duel for about three minutes.

Anyway, sorry David, ol' chap. I'll work on that farming later tonight. Maybe I'll even get a spot with the Spector... That's a hard gig to get.

TWO new pets!

sooooo. *ahem* well uh the title, kinda gives it away.

*awkward silence*

erm *starts sweating* Screenshots

yeah....

My Glitched up egg!

(Remember Dustin....)

Oddly enough this is the same name of Dustin's Glitched egg

My very hard worked for ADULT fire Serpent.

(Still gotta get to ancient for spell)
Ice Bird! (Gotta get to Adult)

All in All

A pretty good day

A Fancy Rant of Fanciness

I must admit to have fallen into the wonderful world of "Less Talkee, More Playee" and did the Friendly Necromancer. It's really nice to take short breaks from posting about Wizard 101, where you can actually play the game you claim you are an expert at.

Not like I'm not an expert. I am ;)

So, what is good ol' Dustin going to talk about today? Well I'm first going to remind you that WandCast Episode 7 will be recorded live on June 24th, in the year 2010! If you want the word on when to be at the WandCast chatroom, be 110% sure to check out this post that I graciously posted upon the request that I post it from a Miss Kestrel "The Walrus" ShadowThistle. Speaking of Kestrel, she still hasn't sent me the dang show notes for Episode 7! I'm such a nagger. Sorry for being a nagger! Just send 'em along when you're ready "Ketzel" (-David's brother trying to say her name xD).

For those of you who don't know but should know, we're setting biweekly dates for WandCast over the summer! Thoroughly read this post, where we go through the information on Summer Standardization.

And LASTLY (about WANDCAST, that is), remember to enter the Swiftshadow Wings Contest we're having on the show! All you've got to do is send us a measly lil' email that contains the answer to this 'ere question: What is your favorite spell from the Death School, and why is your favorite spell from the Death School your favorite spell from the Death School?!? Easy as cheesecake (that's for you, Heather R.)! We're having one winner, who will win the new Swiftshadow Wings that ANYONE who's ANYONE wants. So you WANT to enter this contest. LET'S WIN SOME WINGS FROM WANDCAST!

I know, I said lastly. But there's just ONE more thing I just HAVE to say before the rant! I now have a title! During the recording of Ravenwood Radio Episode 18, I asked Leesha if all student teachers got the title Overlord. According to Leesha, they each get a separate title. Leesha, you know your stuff, so I'm trusting you on this one! Thanks to Sierra StarSong for helping me figure out what my title was going to be. We settled on "King Boom"! I know, it's raw, and it's awesome. So now I'm King Boom MoonCatcher, and I'm loving life!

Right, onto the rant. The rant that I promised you all. And it's pretty fancy, as promised.

*cue rant*

I'm going to explain to you how farming works with my cousin, David TitanRider.

Say you set out to farm the Crazed Forest Spirit in the Ancient Burial Grounds for the Crabling, and David tags along. You fight a few times, and then you (you meaning ME, Dustin MoonCatcher), rolls a 100.

You get the Crabling.

And then David has something to say. "Look, man, you owe me. You owe me that Crabling. You are in a DEBT to me, dude. You will farm all day and night until a Crabling sits proudly in my backpack, or I will stick this pencil in your head!" (See WandCast 6 for the pencil thing, because it's real.)

So I'm now in a debt to David. I didn't even say anything except that I'd get him that Spector, and yet I am in debt because I got the drop we were farming for. Interesting phenomenon, no?

Ah David, you know I'm just messing you, but that's what farming with you is like. Erm... Farming with ME probably isn't that different, butcha know.

*awkward silence*
*everyone stares at Dustin, who begins to sweat*

Money doesn't grow on trees, OKAY?! GAH! I'M CAUGHT! shrug/

SORRY, that was pretty spontaneous. But that's what the art of the rant is like, cuz! SPONTANEOUS.

Get used to it ;) I'm going to sign off with some pictures that'll probably annoy David ;) He's a cool guy- Wait, no- he's a firey guy, and a good cousin. Thanks for all the farming we've done together, cuz.

I've got a Crabling!

Rusty's first day of pre-school. I hope he fits in!

Michael RainHeart's latest outfit.

It's really sad when you see that quest in the booklet of a Level 36 Wizard. Michael RainHeart was conveniently unavailable for comment when this was discovered. Reporters assume that he is now lazy as well as cocky and overconfident.

A Rant & The June Ravenwood Bulletin

Some exciting news came with the June edition of the Ravenwood Bulletin! As Fallon said, "Here's the most noteworthy":

I'm so psyched! And did everyone see the special on Wizard 101 that KVUE did? You can click here to watch it. You get giant sneak peeks at the visuals of Celestia, so it's worth watching a hundred times.

Just kidding. But it's a great video.

If anyone wants to read the whole Ravenwood Bulletin (which I suggest you do because it has a special write-up from Todd J. Coleman about trading enhanced Treasure Cards), please, click here!

Ravenwood Radio is tonight as well! Be in the chatroom at 8 or 8:30 PM (be safe and go at 8). Unfortunately, I'm unable to attend yet again due to a condition I've told myself I have that I am calling rapid time disorder. Basically, I've got this problem where I feel like I don't have enough time to get ready for school in the morning (it happens with other stuff too), so I get up at 5:37 (the waking up at weird times like the 37 is part of it, too) just so I don't freak out. I know, it's completely irrational, but I have serious panic attacks (like stomach goes nuts, head hurts, REALLY freaks out) if I don't have at least 1 hour and 25 minutes to get done everything I've got to do in the morning. This is also the answer to why I've decided that it's healthiest for me to go to bed at a maximum time of 8:45 PM EST, no exceptions. So yup... This is part of the reason I'm going to a new school next year, though, so that's about it. I'll be a regular all summer long and a lot of next school year for Ravenwood Radio, though!

Thanks for reading the rant and the Ravenwood Bulletin!

Short n' Sweet: I'm Back!

How's it going, all you Wizards out there? Good? Great! Well, as you may have been able to guess, I'm back from the break that I announced a few posts ago when I was all sad about WandCast.

Since I'm on the topic of WandCast, allow me to elaborate. Remember how I said I was going to use Livestream's built in recorder from now on? Well, I'm sure everything would work super fine if Livestream worked fine. I set the stinking thing to record the broadcast... and what do you know. Lemme give you a hint: You tell a person not to look and they look. Livestream is like that person; unreliable in many ways, and a huge source of frustration. So yes, Livestream did not record WandCast,Episode 5. Should I rejoice or not? It's not like there was anything so great about it... But no, I just HAD to have a backup plan. I recorded WandCast as a backup on my Mac which was just sitting there recording the whole thing. However, I relied on hardware to do the work and so the sound quality, volume level, etc. aren't gonna be to great when I can finally force myself to release the fifth episode.

*sigh* & shrug/ (does the / come before or after the shrug?).

I appreciate the whole community for giving me support when I've been pretty upset about WandCast. It rocks. Special thanks to Cassandra LifeCaster of Comedy Theurgists (I think David is never going to shut up about how cool it was to hear someone who was actually British :-)), Heather Raven of The Wandering Conjurer, Bailey of the Friendly Family (The Friendly Necromancer), and Taji34 (Luke DragonTamer) of the Sorcerer's Corner. All of their blogs are available in the Other Wizard 101 Bloggers section on the right side of your screen, perhaps a little down.

Oh, yeah, and thanks to... Oh, out with it already! David TitanRider. Goodness, that took some effort. I'll probably regret putting his name in the smallest font size when he's yelling at me on Skype in a few hours. Cousins, I

Also, I've got a new outfit. Special thanks to Reed GiantPetal for all the great advice. Yes, and you too Kestrel!

What do you all think of it? I still have my other robe because I have two Level 50 Robes for Storm.

Here's pictures from the Live Coven Run. That thing was so much fun! Especially the raid on the Kraken while we were all transformed into Fire Elves. *ahem*

Awesome sauce at the LEAST. If anyone wants to watch what I am calling "The Raid on the Kraken", upon here you shall clicketh. That's Elizabethan English for CLICK ME NOW, DANG IT!

WandCast 5 Was... Well... Not Great.

Due to my not planning ahead, we didn't have enough to say on WandCast. Yep. So I decided to ask the chatroom to help out and have someone come in and answer trivia questions I didn't even have. First, Cassandra LifeCaster came on and the lag was taking so long to get across the Atlantic Ocean (she's in Britain) and it didn't work out. Then, we had on young Molly EarthSong, who was awesome, and answered the questions with glee and happiness.

Funny to think about glee and happiness when I'm so down in the dumps.

Anyway, then we had a little tiny bit of time left in the show that only 12-16 people were listening to, and Reed did his bit.

Overall, if I had been listening, I would have left.

*sigh*

I feel terrible about it. Sorry everyone who was looking forward to a great WandCast. 6 should be better.

The Pets Are Coming, The Pets Are Coming!

Yes, indeed, they are! Of course, David already has posted about it, so I'm not going to post the news. I'll just run over it. Basically, coming up REALLY soon, KingsIsle is going to add Power Pets to Wizard 101. You're going to race pets in the Pet Derby, let them FREE in your house, and mix and match them.

Yea, it's cool. I was just thinking, whenever the Test Realm comes out, I get really anxious all in my stomach and stuff. I'm just thinking, "I'VE GOTTA IN THERE! I DON'T WANT DAVID TO GET TO FAR AHEAD OF ME!" Yea. I've decided that when the Pets come on the Test Realm, I'm going to just take my time and RE-LAX. Okay.

Felt like I needed to get that out.

Two Sentences from The King

Um, did anyone think that we weren't gonna hear back from the King of Gobblers, Jeff Toney? Well, now I get to rub in your face that we did hear back from him the very day I sent him a message!

Okay, so basically I just let him know that we'd moved, and to change the link on the Fansites & Links page on Wizard101.com.

AND-

"I'll pass this on the Greyrose. Thanks for the info."
Um, how awesome is that?!? Pretty cool!

Keep on Casting,

No, I'm sorry, I just cannot end on that note. As I was typing the signature W101 Info "Keep on Casting", I was overtaken by a serious combustion and realization of frustration. Look, I think it looks really weird to sign off these posts as "-Dustin" as I do frequently! As I was thinking about how uncool I believe it to be, I figured, "Why not sign off as -D.?" That would rock! HOWEVER, there is another *ahem* friend of mine who shares this blog with me who's name also starts with a D! INFURIATION!
Okay, NAH, I'm no so infuriated at David, but I was just bringing this up as a topic. I wish that I could change my last name in game to Bolt. I can see it now...
"The name's Bolt. Dustin Bolt."
Um, AWESOME! Unfortunately, I can't simply just change the name.
Whatever, I guess MoonCatcher has a bit of a ring to it... But you've gotta put Dustin first, then...
"The name's Dustin. Dustin MoonCatcher."
Well, now that I've gotten that off of my shoulders....
Keep on Casting,
Dustin MoonCatcher
